My SBC Journey: Danielle

7th June 2020 SBC & Me

When were you diagnosed with SBC?
I was diagnosed on 8th November 2018 aged 29
How were you diagnosed with SBC?
I had a biopsy that showed I had cancer and was told this on 2nd November. I was given a CT scan on 8th November and called back in on the same day by my Oncologist who told me it was stage 4, incurable breast cancer. I was with my mum and my husband.
What has been your treatment Journey?
I started treatment  with 6 rounds of chemotherapy (Docetaxel) and 2 target therapy drugs called Herceptin and Pertuzumab which are first line treatment drugs for HER2+ breast cancer. I still have the target therapy drugs every 3 weeks which will continue until they stop working. As of my last scan I am NED and have been since July 2019.
What would have helped make your journey so far easier?
Mainly the wait for scan results being shorter than it currently is. Sometimes they are weeks after the scan and that time in between is agonising and pretty terrifying at times. But other than that I feel I've been pretty lucky on my journey so far.
