My SBC Journey: Fiona

9th August 2020 SBC & Me

Fiona

When were you diagnosed with SBC?
I was diagnosed in October 2019
How were you diagnosed with SBC?
My SBC was discovered at my final check up at hospital when I said I felt I had a reaction to the flu jab. An ultrasound revealed suspicious lymph node under left arm, the site of previous clearance and same side as mastectomy from primary cancer.
Further investigations revealed one in my mediastinum and also bone involvement which is significant, I had to have a right hip replacement as the tumour was about to blow my femur and had two days notice of a hip replacement. Also in pelvis, spine, legs, knees
What has been your treatment Journey?
I have recently had radiotherapy on spine as well as the hip after replacement. I have also tried palblociclib and exemestane which didn’t work and now on my second weekly chemo of paclitaxel.
What has helped you find joy in life?
I have recently purchased a Motorhome named HOPE, this has given me confidence to be able to visit family during the current COVID-19 situation.
