When were you diagnosed with secondary breast cancer?
March 2021
How were you diagnosed with secondary breast cancer?
I had some pain, I was fobbed off by my surgeon who said it was nothing, the next week I was in agony, went to my GP who sent me for a CT scan. I was then sent for a biopsy which confirmed it.
What has been your treatment journey?
I’m due to have 6 cycles of chemotherapy and herceptin and perjeta every 3 weeks.
What would have helped make your journey so far easier?
I feel if I was actually listened to in the first place would have helped, if I listened to that surgeon I could have been in a VERY different place right now. My mental health hasn’t been great at all, and there’s been no support from anyone in shetland at all, I was just told it’s secondary breast cancer then left for 3 weeks.
What advice would you give someone who’s just received their diagnosis?
Don’t google anything! Statistics are very out of date.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
Anywhere that’s warm and has sunshine! It’s freezing here in shetland
Favourite tv show?
Probably the masked singer!
Favourite books?
I like a good autobiography.
