When were you diagnosed with SBC? 

9 weeks after primary diagnosis in June 2015 so approx September 2015

How were you diagnosed with SBC? 

I was advised 9 weeks after initial CT scan that there was an “area of concern” showing on my pelvis.  It was never clarified at the time what this meant and I never realised this was how I was being told about my secondary cancer.

What has been your treatment Journey?

6 chemo, mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, 15 radiotherapy; mammoplasty; liposuction on my “bellyboob” and no 97 herceptin due on 30th April; annual CT scan and quarterly MUGA scans.

What would have helped make your journey so far easier?

Having it explained clearly that I had SBC – it wasn’t until the following year that a nurse explained to me whilst I was having what I thought would be my last Herceptin (No 17/18) that I would be continuing on this due to the tumour on my pelvis.  Thankfully this is still my first line of treatment and to date has kept everything under control.  I have annual scans (I requested this to be changed from 6 monthly due to scanxiety) and all good to date.  

What advice would you give someone who has just received their diagnosis?

Never use google!!!   Ask questions of your oncologist, nurses and use sites such as Make 2nds count – no question is ever stupid so feel confident enough to ask; use any support that is offered to you.

What is your favourite holiday destination? 

Moon Palace, Mexico

Do you have any great TV/film recommendations?

Loved Vikings on Amazon Prime just finished during the week and devastated I’ve finished it!  Virgin River;

Any detective books – especially if they are free on the Kindle :D
