Janet Butler
I have been teaching Pilates for over 23 years and it is the love of my life and has helped me on my journey with secondary breast cancer.
I was diagnosed in February 2019 Denovo ER+ HER2- and I’m on my first line (letrozole and palbociclib) of treatment, which I am very grateful for.
Last year, I had a Liver Resection and my last scan showed no evidence of disease.
Pilates has helped me to recover from my mastectomy and radiotherapy, cording and my major Liver Resection operation last year, where I spent over 40 days in hospital.
My Pilates can be adapted to suit all ages and abilities and can improve strength, flexibility and posture. It is a very mindful exercise and In addition to the meditation is great for mental and emotional health.
When I went on the Make2nds Count retreat earlier this year, I noticed that some people were frightened to move and this can create stiffness and muscle wastage and increased pain. And I feel like I would like to share the benefits of Pilates with our community.
Pilates can really help to increase your mobility ,range of movement, strength and posture and reduce pain.
I am passionate about the benefits of Pilates and it has made an enormous difference to my clients and my recovery.
I currently teach one class a week and private appointments occasionally. I had to give up my amazing Pilates business when I was diagnosed due to my side effects and fatigue, and I feel really excited about this opportunity to help others improve both mentally and physically.
"When I was diagnosed I felt like I was giving up my whole life and this opportunity makes me feel like I’m getting something back that I love "
